Close to the geographical heart of Scotland, St Fillans is an ideal base for touring. The awesome grandeur of Glencoe, the scenic west coast near Oban, and the ancient towns of Stirling, Dunkeld and Saint Andrews are all easily accessible. Walkers will be spoilt for choice, with a wide range of walks to cater for all abilities. Whether you prefer short scenic walks to waterfalls and monuments, longer low level walks, or mountain summits you will not be disappointed, with dozens of low level walks and more than 50 Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet (approximately 1,000 metres) within an hour’s drive.

Rural Perthshire is also an excellent location for fishing and field sports. Loch Earn, and the River Earn are on our doorstep, and world famous Tay, one of the principal salmon rivers of Europe is close by. Most of the local estates also offer shooting and stalking in season.
Cyclists of all abilities are also well catered for. From a family outing to tracks for experienced mountain bikers, the local area has range of routes. Click here for more information on cycling.
Although Achray House is situated at the quiet end of Loch Earn, a wide range of watersports is available a few minutes drive away at the western end of the loch. A little further afield, the Tay and other local rivers offer some of the best white water rafting in the United Kingdom.
There are also a host of other activities on offer locally, from panning for gold to learning to fly a sea plane. Achray House is also an excellent base for geocaching, with over 1000 caches within a 25 mile radius.
