St Fillans Perthshire is only 12 miles from The Famous Grouse Experience. In summer the Breadalbane ring bus offers half-day touring. Unspoilt habitats with birds of prey, red deer, white fronted geese and red squirrels are often spotted around Loch EarnSt Fillans’ Hydro power station was built in 1957, a trail-blazer in its time. Dundurn parish church (1879) is a short walk away. Neish island, the man-made island in Loch Earn right in front of the Achray House, is reportedly the scene of “Macnab’s Revenge”. Geocaching enthusiasts can access 1000 caches within 25 miles.

Numerous low level walks are accessible from the Achray House through St Fillans, or go on the brand new cycle lane for a stroll or cycle of 5 miles to Comrie. Walks include: riverside walk (2 km), South Loch Earn walk (3 km), Dunfillan hill (5.5 km) past ruins of the old  chapel and burial ground, Glen Goinean Intake Dam walk (5.5. km), Old Morell Village Ruins (4 km) and Scree walk (2.6 km - climbing to about 140 m).

For the more adventurous, about 50 Munros (mountains over 1000 m) are within an hour’s drive from St Fillans Perthshire. Ben Chonzie, North of Crieff, is accessible from tracks on the West. Ben Lawyers offer about 7 Munros, connected along the north banks of Loch Tay. The Schiehallion is another popular climb, easily accessible with spectacular views.

St Fillans golf club, in conjunction with Comrie, Crieff (Dornock), Killin and Muthill golf clubs offers 18 hole rounds, at any 3 of the clubs, for £45. Valid until 31 October; advance booking recommended. An additional 35 golf courses are accessible within an hour of St Fillans.
