Whatever your level of fitness or experience, you will find walks near Achray House to suit you.
To stretch your legs, try a short walk by the riverside (2km), or for something a little longer, walk to historic Dundurn Hill, past the ruins of St. Fillans Chapel (6km).
Of course, being situated in the Southern Highlands, many walks involve some climbing. Start with an easy uphill walk behind the hotel on East Creag Mhor, where you get excellent views over Loch Earn and to summits of the larger mountains in the area such as Ben Vorlich (5km).
You can continue this walk higher on the hillside for more extensive views, and can even extend it into a day long walk in Glen Tarken.
Within an hour’s drive there are enough walks to pass many weeks in the hills and glens. The National Nature Reserve at Ben Lawers, home to the most celebrated collection of mountain plants in Britain is a superb short walk, which can be extended to a very strenuous full day climb of the mountain itself. There are also many walks in the nearby glens and forests.
If you are an experienced hill walker, then there are over 50 Munros within an hour’s drive, as well as countless Corbetts and Grahams.
Your hosts, Alan and Jane Gibson are both keen walkers, and will be happy to advise you on routes to suit your mood.
